Introduction

Section 2.12 of the TriSuccess reading and Chapters 2 and 7 of College Success explore how understanding yourself as a learner can help you identify strategies to support your academic success. Over the years there were many variations on the basic idea of how one learns best, but one of the most popular theories was known as the VAK model. VAK is an acronym for three types of learning, each linked to one of the basic senses thought to be used by students: visual, aural, and kinesthetic. The reading/write learning style preference has also been added to the VAK model, so you will see the VARK (visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic) acronym in many instances.

This assignment will require you to self-assess your learning preferences to aid in developing good learning strategies.

Instructions:

1. Read Section 2.12 of TriSuccess prior to starting this assignment for a better understanding of learning preferences.
2. Complete the (vark-learn.com) and review your results.
3. Review strategies associated with each of your learning styles:
4. On a Word document address the following four questions:
   
   • Paragraph 1 (minimum 5 sentences): Present each score for the four (VARK) learning style assessment.
   • Paragraph 2 (minimum 5 sentences): Discuss your highest learning (dominate) style area. Do these results surprise you? Share an example of how a strategy associated with that learning style has been helpful to you in the past.
   • Paragraph 3 (minimum 5 sentences): Discuss your lowest learning style area. Do these results surprise you? Share one strategy associated with this learning style that you have not found helpful in the past.
   • Paragraph 4 (minimum 5 sentences): Most people are combination learners, benefiting from strategies across different learning styles. Review the strategies for your three lowest-scoring styles. Highlight two youve successfully used in the past, even if they arent from your dominant style, and explain how they supported your learning.

Assignment Expectations

Using a Word document, present the answers in complete sentences and paragraph form. There should be four paragraphs, with a minimum of 5 sentences provided for each paragraph. This paper should be about two pages in length. Be sure to proofread your work.

Before finalizing your assignment, review the grading rubric to ensure you have met the grading requirements. The rubric can be found on the assignments Dropbox page in the bottom right-hand corner under Activity Details.

When you have finished, please be sure to add your name, date, and course name on the assignment. Next, title the saved file with your name (Example: Module 2 Case Helen Smith). Save and upload the document to the Case 2 Dropbox.

There are no late penalties for this assignment. Please note that all work must be completed by the last day of class.
