Introduction: We know that supporting our work with evidence is important, but how do we know if we are supporting our work with credible evidence? Typically, credible sources provide us with information that is factual and well supported. However, just because a source has facts doesn’t always mean it’s credible. If this is true, how are we able to tell the difference between credible and non-credible sources?
The easiest way to find credible sources for your assessments will be to use the Capella Library. University libraries are different from the typical Internet search. Learning to use the library well will save you both time and effort in your courses. In the second assessment, you will explore the credibility of sources and learn more about how to tell when a source is more versus less credible. Finding and evaluating resources are essential tasks to master for whenever you need information for your day-to-day life, school, or in the workplace.

To complete the CRAAP Test portion of this assessment, go to the Credibility of Information page of the companion HELP site located in the . Review the internet articles listed and select one article to evaluate using the CRAAP Test. Record the name of the article on the CRAAP Test worksheet and then begin your evaluation.
Use the questions on the CRAAP Test to evaluate the internet article and score each categoryCurrency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose. Add up your scores to determine the article’s total score. The assessment worksheet provides a rating and guidance with how acceptable the source is for your use.
After evaluating the internet article using the CRAAP Test, move to the second section of the worksheet to explore a different type of resource. Locate the article (using the minimal information provided) from the using Summon and respond to the questions using complete sentences. Note: Detailed guidance on locating a journal article using keywords is provided in the video. Complete the following:
- Apply psychological principles of ethical decision making to the topic of scientific research findings.
- Develop the skills of paraphrasing and summarizing to represent the purpose of an external source.
- Assess personal time management plan for this assessment.
