Classroom management plans are used to help teachers plan for the expected and unexpected events that take place in the classroom. Establishing a planned and predictable environment will increase student engagement, safety, and security.
Select an elementary grade range (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) to focus on. In a 500-750 word essay, create a rough draft of an inclusive classroom management plan that would be appropriate for the selected grade range in a physical and digital learning environment. You may use previous assignments to help compile the information needed for each section. The final draft, with additional sections, will be submitted as a benchmark assignment in Topic 6.
Note: Do not copy and paste tables, charts, or lists. Instead, use academic language (minimizing the use of first-person language).
Include the following sections in your classroom management plan:
- Title Page: Create an appropriate APA formatted title page.
- Introduction: Create an introduction appropriate for this essay. Introductions should provide a roadmap of the paper and end with a strong thesis statement. While the thesis will stay the same, the introduction will change slightly by the time the benchmark is submitted and all sections are included.
- Section 1 Professionalism: Reflect on upholding professionalism as an educator to support an equitable educational environment for students. This may include professional standards, the code of ethics, and relevant laws or school policies.
- Section 2 Engagement and Motivation: Discuss the importance of an environment that engages and motivates students. Describe specific ways a classroom environment can increase student engagement and motivation.
- Section 3 Philosophy and Classroom Model: Explain an appropriate classroom management philosophy. Identify and analyze one of the research-based classroom management models discussed in the Topic 3 assignment and explain how it aligns with the philosophy.
Support your classroom management plan rough draft with a minimum of three scholarly resources. Note: Each section (Section 1, Section 2, and Section 3) needs to be supported with a minimum of one scholarly resource.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
