Brief Summary of Assessment Requirements
The assessment requires students to research and present a recent business news story (published within the last 12 weeks) that demonstrates how the macro environment is impacting a real business. Using the PESTLE model (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental), students must:

Select a credible and relevant news story connected to macro-environmental influences.
Analyse the business situation using PESTLE, assessing how each external factor has affected the business.
Predict potential future outcomes the business may face based on those macro trends.
Create a Storyboard that visually outlines the structure, key points, and flow of the analysis.
Record an Editorial Video presenting the findings clearly, professionally, and creatively.
Apply learning from Modules 4–9, strengthening understanding of macro-environmental impacts.
Students must also demonstrate:

Competent use of business analysis tools
Strong digital communication, critical thinking, and research skills
The ability to gather reliable information from credible news sources
Creativity in developing the storyboard and confidence in video presentation
How the Academic Mentor Guided the Student (Step-by-Step Process)
Step 1: Understanding the Task Requirements
The mentor began by breaking down the task into simple components news selection, PESTLE analysis, storyboard creation, and video presentation. This helped the student visualise the overall workflow and understand the expected outcomes clearly.

Step 2: Selecting a Relevant Business News Story
The mentor guided the student to:

Search for news published within the last 12 weeks
Choose a story where macro-environment changes are clearly visible
Verify credibility of sources (business websites, economic reports, industry news)
The mentor showed how to align the news story with PESTLE categories for easy analysis.

Step 3: Research and Source Evaluation
The student was taught how to:

Identify reliable information
Extract relevant facts
Note political, social, economic or technological indicators from the article
The mentor demonstrated how to cross-check information without overloading the analysis.
Step 4: Applying the PESTLE Model
The mentor walked the student through each PESTLE factor:

Political: Policies, regulations, government decisions
Economic: Inflation, interest rates, market trends
Social: Consumer behavior, demographics, cultural trends
Technological: Digital innovation, automation, new tools
Legal: Compliance, legislative changes
Environmental: Sustainability, climate impacts, resource constraints
The student learned how to identify which factors strongly influence the chosen business and how to justify those connections.

This step enhanced critical thinking by encouraging the student to consider both risks and opportunities.

Step 6: Storyboard Creation
The mentor explained how to:

Break analysis into clear scenes/frames
Place key points in each frame
Keep the flow logical and engaging
Ensure that visuals support the narrative
The mentor emphasised creativity while keeping content aligned with academic objectives.

Structuring the verbal presentation
Speaking clearly and confidently
Using digital communication tools effectively
Staying concise while maintaining professional tone
Matching the storyboard visuals with the video narration
