Exam Overview

The midterm exam assesses your understanding of Fullan's frameworks for change leadership through analysis of authentic change scenarios. The exam is not a test of factual recall but rather of your ability to apply Fullan's concepts to real-world situations.

Exam Format and Structure

Question 1: Analyzing Complexity and Change (150 points)

You will be presented with an authentic scenario depicting an organization attempting to implement change (SEE BELOW). The scenario will include information about the organization's structure, culture, the change initiative, and people's responses.

Your task is to:

1. Identify the sources of complexity in this situation. What makes this change challenging? What factors are at play beyond simple technical problem-solving?
2. Apply at least three concepts from Chapters 1–3 to analyze the situation. You should directly quote or paraphrase Fullan and explain how his frameworks help you understand what is happening.
3. Analyze the role of relational trust in this scenario. How is trust (or lack of trust) affecting people's response to the change? What does this reveal about the organization's capacity to sustain change?
4. Propose what leadership moves you would make at this juncture to strengthen the change effort. Ground your proposal in Fullan's frameworks.

Question 2: Moral Purpose and Decision-Making (150 points)

You will be presented with a leadership decision or dilemma. The scenario will describe a situation where a leader must choose between competing priorities or pressures.

Your task is to:

1. Identify the moral and practical tensions in this situation. What values or principles are in conflict?
2. Analyze how moral purpose should inform this decision. Using Chapter 2, explain what Fullan's framework suggests about how moral purpose functions in decision-making.
3. Evaluate the implications of different choices. What would be gained and lost by each option? Who would benefit? Whose needs might be overlooked?
4. Recommend a course of action grounded in moral purpose and supported by Fullan's frameworks. Explain your reasoning.

Exam Quality Standards

• Depth of analysis: Moving beyond surface description to genuine examination of what is at stake and why
• Accurate application of Fullan's frameworks: Direct engagement with Fullan's ideas, with clear citation
• Evidence of integration: Connecting different concepts and showing how they illuminate the situation
• Practical wisdom: Demonstrating that you can apply theory to real-world contexts with nuance and sophistication
• Writing quality: Clear, grammatically correct, academically rigorous prose that demonstrates command of language

Summative Assessment: Supporting Data for Capstone

●      In this summative assessment, you will create a plan for your data collection for your capstone project. You will include information on both quantitative and qualitative data, where you will locate the information in your organization, and recommendations for other types of data to be collected or utilized.

●      Your plan should include the following:

Assignment 2: Analyze the 4P's and their relationship with Innovation

Instructions

You are a marketing manager tasked with developing training for new hires and interns. In the prior assignment, you learned your CMO believes in linking marketing strategies with innovation to create successful initiatives and wants this information to be aligned throughout the company.  

The marketing mix is important to organizational success. Product, price, place, and promotion ensure successful product or service innovations. In this assignment, you will observe the following: 

• Discuss the 4P’s;  
• Identify the most important “P”; and 
• Discuss the relationship between marketing and innovation 

Reflect on the readings for this week. Then, develop a PowerPoint presentation in which you will explain the answers to the following questions. 

1. What are the four elements of the marketing mix? Describe each aspect in detail. 
2. Of the four elements, which is the most important? Why? 
3. Can innovation succeed without marketing? Explain.

Research Paper: Annotated Bibliography Assignment Instructions

Overview

The foundation for sound scholarship is a solid command of the academic literature in your field. A scholar builds this foundation by reading and evaluating one academic source at a time.

Over time, you will read many, many sources. It is vitally important for you to keep a record of what you have read, along with important annotations so that you remember how each source is relevant to your research. These citation records include:

·       Basic bibliographic details: Author, Title, Publication Name, Date, Page Numbers.

·       A brief summary of the source: What was the key argument? What were its strengths or weaknesses? Was anything in the piece applicable to your future research?

·       Tags or Keywords: You should consider how to organize your sources so that you can easily recall sources that are relevant to various research projects you may be managing, and sources that are relevant to different parts of a research project.

This Research Paper: Annotated Bibliography Assignment will introduce you to the process of identifying, recording, and annotating sources for later use. It will also introduce you to a citation management tool called RefWorks that is available to all Liberty University students. A link to RefWorks is included in the assignment prompt for Research Paper: Annotated Bibliography Assignment.

NOTE: If you are already accustomed to using another citation manager, you are not required to use RefWorks, but you are strongly encouraged to do so.

Instructions

For this assignment, you are required to submit an Annotated Bibliography in which you:

·       Identify at least ten sources that are relevant to a public policy issue that you may be interested in researching for your dissertation.

o   State and briefly describe, in a few sentences, the public policy issue you intend to explore in this assignment.

o   Note that these sources can be used for your Research Paper: Literature Assessment Assignment, so be thoughtful in selecting them.

o   Create an entry for each source in RefWorks, or your chosen citation manager.

·       Annotate each source with a summary of at least 50 words. (If you use RefWorks, write your annotation for each source in the “Abstract” field of your record for that source.)

o   Each annotation should state the central thesis of the source being cited.

o   Each annotation should explain how the source’s author(s) support their thesis.

o   Each annotation should evaluate the relevance or applicability of the source to your research interest.

Produce an Annotated Bibliography document according to current APA format. (See the Liberty University Writing Center for a sample Annotated Bibliography – a link to this is included in the Resources section in this assignment’s prompt.)

o   Ensure that you have a properly formatted Title Page with your name, the course name, the instructor name, and the date of your document.

o   Ensure that your citations are properly formatted and alphabetized.

o   Ensure that your full annotation of each source is included beneath the source’s citation.

Building a Health History: Communicating Effectively to Gather Appropriate Health-Related Information

👩‍⚕️ Patient Scenario

You have been assigned the case of S.J., a 28-year-old Lebanese Muslim female who is in her first year of graduate school and living in university housing. This is her first year in the United States. She is presenting to the university clinic for a routine physical exam.

📌 Required Components

1. Cultural and Contextual Factors
Explain the specific socioeconomic, spiritual, lifestyle, immigration/acculturation, and other cultural factors that may influence this patient’s healthcare experience. Be specific and apply them directly to this scenario.

2. Cultural Sensitivity Considerations
Discuss issues you must be sensitive to when interacting with this patient and explain why they are important in providing safe, respectful, and patient-centered care.

3. Communication Strategies
Describe the communication techniques you would use to build rapport and demonstrate cultural humility. Explain why these strategies are appropriate for this patient.

4. Health History Interview Approach
Summarize how you would gather the patient’s health history. Include:
• At least five (5) targeted questions
• Your rationale for each question

Here is just a brief scenario

Conifer Corp is a sawmill operation in Oregon, that is owned by a major forest products company, but operates independently of headquarters. The mill is divided into six operating departments: boom, sawmill, planer, packaging, shipping, and maintenance. It won packaging quality awards over the past few years, but product quality has recently fallen and customers have switched to other producers. The planing and sawmilling departments have significantly increased productivity over the past couple of years, whereas the packaging department has decreased productivity. This has resulted in a backlog of finished product, adding to Conifer’s inventory costs and the risk of damaged stock. The company pays packaging employees overtime to complete the work on Saturdays. The packaging department extends its lunch and coffee breaks, and usually leaves work early. The packaging department is located in a separate building from the others and has no supervisor.
